I due neo sposini americani hanno deciso di vivere questa bellissima esperienza per la loro luna di miele, un po’ diversa da quella che generalmente fanno tutte le coppie appena sposate, e raccontarla nel loro blog.

Siamo Mike e Anne Howard, due neo sposi americani che hanno pensato che una luna di miele di 10 giorni non era abbastanza per celebrare una nuova vita insieme. Con un po’ di risparmi, nessun bambino, e buona salute, abbiamo concluso che non ci sarebbe stato tempo migliore di adesso per viaggiare. Quindi abbiamo abbandonato i nostri lavori, affittato il nostro appartamento, e iniziato una luna di miele di 675 giorni in giro per il mondo.
Usando l’esperienza di Anne come editor di una rivista e quella di Mike come stratega e fotografo digitale, abbiamo iniziato a condividere il nostro viaggio d’amore, la nostra vita e la nostra avventura.
We’re Mike and Anne Howard, two American newlyweds who thought a ten-day honeymoon wasn’t nearly enough to celebrate a new life together. With a little bit of savings, no kids, and good health, we figured there was no better time to travel than now. So we quit our jobs, rented our apartment, and set out on a 675-day honeymoon around the world.
Using Anne’s background as a magazine editor and Mike’s as a digital media strategist and photographer, we started to share our journey of love, life, and adventure.

You have married and, like all the newlyweds, you have decided to do the honeymoon. However, the one you have done has been very particular: you have travelled in 302 cities, 33 countries and 6 continents. What about your experience?
Viaggiare in 33 paesi attraverso il Sud America, il Nord America, l’Africa, l’Asia, l’Oceania, e l’Europa è stato il modo migliore per iniziare la nostra vita insieme. Esplorare il mondo, osservare imponenti spettacoli, scoprire nuove culture, abbracciare nuove esperienze, ci ha dato ricordi ed insegnamenti per una vita.
Stando insieme 24 ore su 24 e dividendo alti e bassi estremi, siamo entrati molto in sintonia con i bisogni ed i desideri l’uno dell’altra. Vogliamo ispirare più coppie a fare il salto per cambiare la loro vita, per viaggiare e vivere la loro luna di miele al massimo. Nel mondo del lavoro, è dura trovare tempo libero…tranne in luna di miele. Speriamo che più coppie appena sposate colgano quest’occasione una volta nella vita e inizino le loro vite insieme con energia.
Traveling to 33 countries across South America, North America, Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Europe has been the greatest way to start our life together. Exploring the world, seeing awe-inspiring sights, discovering new cultures, embracing new experiences, has given us memories and learning experiences for a lifetime.
Being together 24/7 and sharing extreme highs and lows, we have become so in tune with each other’s needs and desires. We want to inspire more couples to take the life-changing leap to travel and push their honeymoon to the fullest. In the working world, it’s hard to get time off…except for a honeymoon. We hope more newlyweds seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and start their lives together with a bang.
Avete lasciato il vostro lavoro e affittato il vostro appartamento per esplorare il mondo. È stato difficile abbandonare la vita di tutti i giorni?
You have left your job and rented your apartment to explore the world. Has it been difficult to leave your everyday life?
La parte più dura è stata uscire dalla porta – c’erano un sacco di cose logistiche affinché succedesse – ma una volta in strada, abbiamo realizzato come potesse essere bella la vita e quanto ci saremmo persi in un lavoro corporativo per anni. Essendo ogni giorno in nuovi ambienti e in nuove culture, impari molto su te stesso, su dove vieni, e sul mondo intero. Quest’esperienza ti da una meravigliosa prospettiva e ti tiene sempre pronto a tutto.
L’unica cosa difficile è non vedere spesso la famiglia e gli amici ma con Skype, non è più di tanto un problema.
The hardest part was getting out the door – there were a lot of logistics to make that happen – but once we got on the road, we realized how amazing life could be and how much we’d been missing being in a corporate job for years. Being in new environments and cultures each day, you learn so much about yourself, where you come from, and the world as a whole. It gives you the greatest perspective and always keeps you on your toes.
The only hard part is not seeing family and friends as often but really with Skype, that isn’t even too much of a hurdle.

You have travelled all over the word with only 40 dollars a day. How have you done with such a low budget? Can you give us any advice to travel cheaply?
Abbiamo imparato tutti i modi per risparmiare sui voli con le compagnie aeree, e tonnellate di altri trucchi da viaggio per tenere basso il nostro budget e alti i livelli di divertimento. Tu potrai pensare che noi siamo milionari (siamo molto lontani da questo!) ma viaggiare in giro per il mondo è risultato essere meno costoso rispetto all’ipoteca sul nostro appartamento. Quando viaggi più lentamente e vivi più localmente, le esperienze incredibili non devono essere meno costose.

Tra tutti i posti che avete visitato, qual è quello che vi è piaciuto di più?
Among all the places you have visited, which one did you like most?
Questa domanda viene fatta molto spesso dalle persone. Abbiamo visto tanti bei luoghi durante questo viaggio ma sono la gentilezza e il calore delle persone che vivono li che ci fanno desiderare di tornare.
Se dovessimo scegliere alcuni luoghi in cui i panorami e le persone ci hanno colpito veramente, questi sarebbero le Filippine, il Brasile, il Nepal, la Turchia, e soprattutto la Birmania. Non abbiamo mai incontrato persone più amichevoli rispetto alla Birmania – sia bambini che anziani ti mandano baci quando gli passi davanti, estranei ti invitano per un tè, e le persone orgogliose del luogo si offrono di mostrarti la loro città in cambio di niente se non della tua compagnia.
This answer largely comes down to the people. We’ve seen so many beautiful places on this trip but it’s the kindness and warmth of the people that live there that keep us longing to return.
If we had to pick a few places where the sights and the people really struck us, it would be the Philippines, Brazil, Nepal, Turkey, and especially Myanmar. We had never met friendlier people than in Myanmar — kids and grandmas alike blow you kisses as you pass by, strangers invite you over for tea, and proud locals offer to show you around their town in exchange for nothing but your company.
